CM Labs Simulations, developer of Vortex training simulators, today announced that the OETIO (Operating Engineers Training Institute of Ontario) is modernising their training classroom with next-generation Vortex simulators and instructor stations for operator training. OETIO operates two world-class training facilities in Canada, offering crane operator, heavy equipment, and construction safety training programs. The simulators will enable as many as 120 apprentices to obtain additional training seat time prior to certification, in the first three years alone. The Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology has selected Kongsberg Digital to supply a suite of new navigation simulators for installation at the International Maritime Institute of New Zealand. Awarded in March 2017 following a competitive tender, the contract covers a total of seven KONGSBERG ship’s bridge simulators for delivery in August 2017, in addition to regional exercise models and a Long Term Simulator Support Programme (LTSSP), which guarantees access to the latest technology updates and dedicated customer support. The simulator delivery will be based on KONGSBERG’s established, market-leading K-Sim technology, featuring one Class A Bridge, two Class B Bridges (one with specific tug functionality) and four Class C ECDIS simulators (with an option for a further two). TGS announces new multi-client acquisition project, Carlsen 3D in Barents Sea, Norway. Carlsen 3D (CAR17 3D) is a 5,490 km2 multi-client survey in open acreage located in the Southwest Barents Sea between the Tromsø and Sørvestnaget Basins. Multi-level targets exist within Pre-Cretaceous, Cretaceous and Paleogene throughout the area - leads include rotated fault blocks and sand injectites. Acquisition is expected to commence in April 2017. Data processing will be performed by TGS using its Clari-FiTM broadband technology to image the complex fault patterns in this prospective area. L3 MAPPS announced today that it has signed a contract with Eskom Holdings SOC Limited (Eskom) to perform a multi-phase project to prepare the two Koeberg Power Station operator training simulators for the steam generator replacement that is taking place on the actual plant units. The Air Force Research Laboratory 711th Human Performance Wing signed an Educational Partnership Agreement with Bowling Green State University’s School of Human Movement, Sport and Leisure Studies due to a mutual interest in the areas of human biomechanics and 3D motion analysis. An EPA is a type of technology transfer agreement between a federal laboratory and an educational institution that enables the transfer or development of technological resources and applications, such as equipment, facilities and professional expertise. Under this agreement, AFRL/711 HPW and BGSU, a public university in Ohio, collaboratively developed research projects to be conducted at BGSU. The 711 HPW loaned motion analysis equipment to BGSU, which enabled BGSU students and faculty to conduct research of benefit to both parties.
