MPS Student Starts 3D Modeling Company

Mack pitched the idea to Kazmi last fall to create a marketplace for 3D printed models, and when he expressed interest, they approached Hajji and Liu joined the team this month. After they assembled a team, they pitched their idea to eLab director, Ken Rother, a week before applications were due. PAZ Extends Airbus Radar Satellite Constellation

airbus tandem xPAZ, the satellite owned by the Spanish company Hisdesat, will soon increase the monitoring resources of the Airbus radar satellites constellation. Following its launch during the last quarter of 2017, PAZ will be positioned in the same orbit as the German owned TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X satellites and form a high-resolution SAR satellite constellation with them. The addition of this third satellite will reduce revisit time and increase acquisition capacity, leading to subsequent benefits to various applications. All three satellites will feature exactly identical ground swaths and acquisition modes. The new setup will be jointly exploited by Hisdesat and Airbus Defence and Space. Read More

TGS Announces Crean 3D Multi-client Project In Ireland

Multi-level targets exist, such as Paleocene and Mesozoic channel/fan systems overlying tilted fault blocks. Exploration success on the Newfoundland Labrador conjugate margin coupled with historical exploration in Atlantic Ireland has resulted in significant acreage being licensed.

Seattle Startup Viro Media Raises $2.5M

viro vrDanny Moon believes we’re on the cusp of a virtual reality revolution that’s held back by a lack of content. Getting more VR experiences on the market was the impetus for the Viro Media, a startup he co-founded with longtime partners Raj and Vik Advani and Robin Har in 2015. Their goal is “democratizing VR development,” Moon said. Viro just closed a $2.5 million funding round to bring on more developers and accelerate that vision. The cash will go toward building out Viro’s framework, which enables developers to create virtual reality apps and experiences using programming tools they already know. Read More

Planning Manager Kevin Bingham, a highly experienced Asta Powerproject user, felt he was more than able to create even complex programmes, but had never created a template programme before. Gridics Closes $1.1 Million Seed Round

city zoneGridics announced the successful conclusion of a $1.1 million round of seed funding.  The round was led by Dune Road Capital and included noted accredited investors such as John Dyett, Managing Director of Salem Partners, serial entrepreneur Robert Kall, CEO and co-founder of Cien.ai and leading Miami real estate developer Avra Jain.  The company, which has raised over $2 million of development capital to date, is focused on further strengthening its product and driving adoption of its Zonar.City application. Gridics, short for Grid Analytics, was founded in 2015 with a vision of combining disparate real estate data sets into a single, hyper-local data platform.

Dubai - 28 Agreements Between Government Departments and Innovative Companies Include 3D

government 3dThe Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) concluded the second round of the Dubai Future Accelerators (DFA) with 28 Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) signed between Dubai government departments and innovative companies from around the world.  Twelve entities took part in the successful second round of the DFA program, which connects emerging technology companies with Dubai government bodies to test new approaches at the city- scale. The Road and Transport Authority and Uber agreed to explore what regulations would be required to test autonomous flying vehicles in Dubai. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) signed four MoUs with Funzi, Proversity, Zspace, and iMake, who will launch an e-training program for schools in Dubai and train Emirati nationals in 21st century skills.
